The spokesman for the Islamic State (IS), Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, gave a short speech today, “The Muwahhidin’s Assault on the Tower of the Mushrikin” (The Monotheists’ Assault on the Tower of the Polytheists). Abu Hassan’s speech was further confirmation of IS’s responsibility for the terrorist attack in Iran on 22 September. IS has published an English-language transcript of this speech, which is reproduced below with some editions for transliteration.
In Ahvaz, the provincial capital of the Arab-majority Khuzestan province in south-western Iran, a parade by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was attacked by four assailants on 22 September, live on state television. Twenty-nine people were killed, at least a dozen members of the IRGC and a number of civilians, including at least one child. Seventy people were wounded. Three of the attackers were killed and one was captured.
IS claimed the attack swiftly through its Amaq News Agency, incorrectly stating initially that Iranian president Hassan Rowhani had been present at the parade. This was soon corrected in a second IS statement. The Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz (ASMLA) near-simultaneously claimed this attack. On 23 September, IS released a video showing three of the four attackers.
Iran has framed the attack as one orchestrated by America and its dependent regimes in the region.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamene’i accused Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates of being behind the attack on 23 September, charges these governments deny as absurd. The reaction of some in the Saudi Kingdom and the Emirates was close to schadenfreude and to contend that the attack was on a military target, and to that extent not terrorism. Iran’s “semi-official” Fars News Agency released a video on 25 September threatening missile attacks on the Gulf states. The Huthis in Yemen have been enabled by Iran to fire missiles at the Saudi capital.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry (VEVAK) said on 24 September that it was aware which Arab group carried out the attack, though it did not name the group. VEVAK claimed to have arrested twenty-two suspects and added, “In obeying the orders of the Supreme Leader, we promise the honourable Iranian nation that terrorist groups will be found and punished wherever they are in the world or the region.” On the night of the attack, Tehran summoned the ambassadors from Britain, Denmark, and the Netherlands, and accused them of harbouring the terrorists who had done this.
In the circumstances, this is minatory rhetoric from Iran. IRGC assassinated ASMLA founder, Ahmad Mola Nissi, in the Netherlands less than a year ago, and president Rowhani, when he was the deputy to then-president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, oversaw the killing spree against Iranian dissidents in Europe in the 1990s (the so-called Chain Murders).
The possibility that the Iranian revolution reverts to its murderous ways in Europe is eminently possible. In the meantime, the Iranian theocracy has initiated a crackdown against the Ahvazi Arabs.

All praise is due to Allah. May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family, his companions, and those who succeed him.
As for what follows:
Allah says, “Fight them and Allah will punish them at your hands, disgrace them, give you victory over them, and will heal the breasts of a believing people and remove the fury in their hearts. Allah accepts the repentance of whom He wills. Allah is All-Knowing and All-Wise” [Al-Tawba (9): 14-15].
With the resolve of truthful muwahideen (monotheists) who have placed their trust in their Lord and have disavowed their own ability and strength [to rely instead on the ability and strength of their Lord], a group of the men of the Khilafa (Caliphate) and the guardians of the creed in the land of Persia have pounced in defence of their religion, acting to deter and suppress their enemy and to fulfil the Islamic State’s promise to all those who have the blood of ahl al-sunna (the Sunni people) on their hands. They breached one of the towers of the Majusi (derogatory: “Zoroastrian”, “fire-worshipper”) state of Iran, by Allah’s grace and favour, and brought the sword of truth down on the necks of the lowly rabble of the Iranian state as well as its Revolutionary Guard as they were parading and showing their arrogance, surrounded by their security forces in the heart of their territory in the land of Ahwaz. They killed and massacred their soldiers, and the grandsons of the Sahabah (Companions [of Prophet Muhammad]) and conquerors left the Majusi leaders and shrine servants dumbfounded.
They left them scattered, broke the awe of their Revolutionary Guard, which is feared by America and the governments in the region, and forced the Majusi leadership to randomly throw accusations as they stubbornly refused to state the plain truth, to the point that they became a laughing stock being mocked by the East and the West. And they still haven’t awoken from the horrific shock, and with Allah’s permission, it will not be the last. The sons of the Khilafa, with success granted by Allah, have demonstrated just how weak and fragile the security of the Majusi state of Iran is, for it is weaker than the home of a spider, and with Allah’s ability and strength, what’s coming will be worse and more bitter.
To the soldiers of the Khilafa and the carriers of the banner, specifically in Baraka (Hasaka) in Sham Wilaya (Syria), and on all of the Islamic State’s fronts in general, attach your hearts to the Firm and Strong, seek His protection—may He be glorified—and adhere to what He has commanded in His statement, “O you who believe! When you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much, so that you may be successful. And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and have your strength depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with al-sabirin (those who are patient)” [Al-Anfal (8): 45-46]. Be steadfast, O lions of war, be harsh against the disbelieving criminals, and show Allah something good from yourselves, for victory only comes from the Almighty, the Wise.
And Allah prevails in His affair, but most people do not know.
